Semiconductors in all dimensionalities ranging from 0D quantum dots and molecules to 3D bulk crystals support bound electron-hole pair quasiparticles termed as excitons.

Using the charged ring potential we derive the potential and field for a homogeneously charged disk. Limiting cases and generalizations are discussed.
The potential of a finite line charge is calculated. Approximations are performed and shown to correspond to known results.
